Baker Cysts
What is a baker’s cysts?
A Baker’s cyst, also called a popliteal cyst, is a fluid-filled swelling that forms behind the knee. It develops when excess joint fluid, known as synovial fluid, is pushed into a small sac at the back of the knee. This fluid normally helps your knee move smoothly, but when too much builds up, it can create a noticeable bulge. Baker cysts are not dangerous on their own, but they are often a sign that something else is going on inside the knee joint.
